My model with about 300,000 mesh elements run into an error after a little while of job starting, with the system error code 1073740940. It worked after I reduced the number of elements to about 150,000 with remesh. I am not sure whether this is a computer performance related problem. It’s worth a try when running into this type of error.

Another wierd thing happened after this.

I have a composite plate model with 2.4mm height, 75mm length and 75mm width. It was meshed with 1 element through thickness direction (axis z), while elements had squre faces in xy plane. This model worked well when the sides of elements in x-y plane were 1.2mm, 0.96mm and 0.87mm. But the model failed when the side’s dimension was changed to 0.84mm with the same error code:

The executable package.exe aborted with system error code 1073740940. Please check the .dat, .msg, and .sta files for error messages if the files exist.  If there are no error messages and you cannot resolve the problem, please run the command “abaqus job=support information=support” to report and save your system information.  Use the same command to run Abaqus that you used when the problem occurred.  Please contact your local Abaqus support office and send them the input file, the file support.log which you just created, the executable name, and the error code.

I double checked the model. And it failed again when the side was 0.83mm.

It seems that the chosen mesh caused this error alone. But I don’t know the reason behind this.©
